Bio and Contact Info

I am Ryan Byrnes, a graphic design, page layout, and production professional working in the Washington, DC metro area. I am currently an employee of a statistical agency of the federal government, where I work with subject matter experts and other communications specialists to produce infographics, marketing materials, event materials, and articles for a monthly online journal. I am also my agency's brand manager.

Before joining the government, I was a freelancer/self-employed for 9 years. I assisted my clients with the development of publications, websites, proposals, advertisements, marketing materials, invitations, event materials, and more. A lot of my work consisted of assisting clients with proposals to the federal government, and often continued with helping them develop their internal proposal shops. I instructed staffs on design processes and workflows, the use of InDesign and InCopy, and often helped them with the development of graphics and websites.

Prior to working as a self-employed contractor, I was a member of the internal marketing departments of an investment bank, a non-profit association of universities focused on space science and engineering, and a large DC-based law firm. While at these organizations, I constantly worked with subject matter experts including investment bankers, scientists, engineers, and attorneys.

In addition to my design skills, I am a proficient editor and writer, as well as an amateur photographer.

I hold a B.A. in Communication from Stockton University, where I minored in Political Science.
