Websites

I have designed and produced many websites during my career, ranging from small, internal contact info and document repositories, to a large, public monthly journal. Below are a few examples of websites I have designed from concept, through testing, to going live.

Click to visit the SCB

The current Survey of Current Business (SCB) website. The SCB is the flagship publication of the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis. I led the effort to move this publication from a collection of PDF articles to an HTML-based publication that features:

  • All articles available in HTML
  • Formatted for all screen sizes
  • Tables include hover column & row highlights,
  • Charts expand in a lightbox,
  • Footnotes appear in popover bubbles when clicked,
  • Major notes appear in modal/pop-up windows when clicked,
  • Fully-formatted print/PDF versions of all articles, and
  • All content is Section 508-compliant.

I developed the production process for the current SCB, and trained SCB staff in chart creation methods, formatting of tables, and HTML coding. Currently I maintain the SCB site, and continue to design charts and lay out articles each month.

This site uses HTML, CSS, SSI, Bootstrap 3, jQuery, and JavaScript.

Left: A previous version of the Universities Space Research Association (USRA) website. The site featured a rotating carousel of hero images, and a repeating scrolling list of USRA's member institutions.

Right: I converted USRA's Policy and Procedures Manual from print to an indexed and seachable internal website.

These sites used HTML, CSS, SSI, Flash, and JavaScript.
